City Council seeks members for water and wastewater rates committee
Post Date:09/13/2016 12:30 AMThe City Council is seeking citizen input regarding water and wastewater rates through a resident-led committee.
The City Council established the Water and Wastewater Rate Advisory Committee at the Sept. 6 City Council meeting. The committee will review water and wastewater utility rates, review options to implement the cost of service, and make recommendations to the City Council. The committee’s responsibilities also include communicating and educating the community about water and wastewater rates.
One of the City Council’s top priorities is to restructure the water rate. This summer the City Council adopted a temporary flat volumetric rate of $4.36 per 1,000 gallons. The city contracted NewGen Strategies and Solutions to conduct a water and wastewater utility rate study and propose a rate structure change.
Those interested can download and submit an application online. Applications are due by 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14. The City Council aims to appoint citizens to the committee at the Sept. 20 City Council meeting.
