On Wednesday, December 8, 2021, the existing Glade Road westbound lane closure from Stafford Drive to Montclair Drive will be extended to Pool Road. Westbound traffic is being detoured at Pool Road to Hall-Johnson. Traffic through this area will be east bound only.

All properties within the construction zone will continue to have access to their neighborhoods and driveways during construction. However, delays should be expected during hours of construction. We ask you to refrain from parking any vehicles on the street during working hours.

Please note emergency vehicles (fire and ambulance) along with mail delivery and garbage vehicles will be able to access every address for the duration of the project during construction.

Glade Road Project Frequently Asked Questions

What are the limits of the Glade Road Project?
Glade Road will be reconstructed from SH26 to Pool Road. The project will improve water, storm drainage, and road infrastructure including a roundabout at Riverwalk Drive. A sidewalk, multi-use trail, curb and gutter and/or ribbon curb, intersection improvements, and landscape restoration will also be included.

What intersection improvements will be made?
The project includes several intersection improvements including the alignment of Oak Timbers and Bedford Road to improve visibility; the lowering of the road profile at Glade and Bluebonnet to eliminate the three-way stop signs; and the construction of a roundabout at Riverwalk Drive.

How long will the construction project last?
Construction of the Glade Road improvements is anticipated to take 24 – 30 months. This timeframe is contingent upon the release of grant funding for the Bluebonnet intersection as well as weather conditions and material availability.

Will the entire length of the road be under construction at the same time?
In order to minimize inconveniences to residents, businesses, as well as the traveling public, construction will be completed in phases. While you may see activity along the entire corridor, there will be sections of the roadway under construction for a period of time. Once the roadway improvements are complete that particular section will be fully opened to the public. Once all phases of construction are complete, there will still be minor inconveniences as the corridor is finalized.

Will there be lane and/or full road closures?
Unfortunately due to the narrowness of the corridor there will be periodic lane closures with one-way traffic during active construction zones. Construction zones with lane closures and one-way traffic will be for short distances and short periods of time. Due to extensive infrastructure construction, some zones may experience lane closures for up to 6 months. There may also be periods of time where an area will experience a full closure with traffic detoured, as will be the case with the Bluebonnet intersection. 

Will I have access to my property and/or business along the corridor during construction?

Please note emergency vehicles (fire and ambulance) will be able to access every address for the duration of the project, and staff will be coordinating with mail delivery, garbage vehicles, and school buses during construction.
