At the October 3 City Council meeting, the City Council approved the return of two economic development programs for the holidays – #Colleyville Gives advertising grants and the Christmas $35/$50 Gift card program.
#Colleyville Gives:
Colleyville's annual #ColleyvilleGives program is designed to assist Colleyville businesses with their 4th quarter advertising and marketing efforts. Eligible businesses can apply for up to $1,000 in grant money to put toward an advertising campaign. Businesses who wish to make a $500 donation to an area non-profit organization will receive an additional $1,000 in grant money. Advertisements must display the hashtag #ColleyvilleGives.
The promotion is intended to help raise awareness of our local businesses and encourage people to shop in Colleyville this holiday season. In addition to supporting businesses, we also want to show our support for area non-profits and encourage others to give back to their community.
Christmas Gift Cards:
With the return of this annual gift card program, each Colleyville household will receive a $35 gift card for purchases at participating restaurants and commercial retail businesses within our city. Gift cards will be distributed mid-November and a second card will be distributed early December. The City is also partnering with the Ministerial Alliance in distributing $50 Colleyville Cares gift cards to families in need this holiday season.
With previous gift card programs, the City has thanked several groups that provided service to our residents during the pandemic including teachers, first responders, and healthcare workers by providing them with a gift card. With this Christmas gift card program, the City is saying thank you to the service workers at Colleyville businesses. Sales tax generating businesses can pick up a gift card for each employee as a thank you for hard work and dedication to our residents, many times with long hours in understaffed conditions.
Once in hand, the gift card can be presented at participating Colleyville businesses for payment of services. The businesses will use the card to credit the transaction and receive reimbursement from the city at the conclusion of the program.
