Every time you shop or dine in Colleyville, not only are you supporting local business, you are investing in your community. The sales tax generated by shopping local helps pay for police officers, firefighter equipment, Library story times, senior programming, ball fields, and more.

With each purchase made in Colleyville, you pay a total of 8.25 percent in sales tax, From that 8.25-percent, 6.25-percent goes to the state and 2-percent goes to the City. Of the City’s 2-percent, 1-percent is for the general fund and is used to pay for every day operations. As approved by the voters, one-half of a percent goes to the Colleyville Crime Control Prevention District (CCCPD) to pay for police officers and the other one-half percent is designated for the Colleyville Economic Development Corporation to pay for park maintenance, Library programs, and special events.

The City is taking a proactive step to assist businesses during the SH26 road construction project and in turn seeks to increase sales tax revenue to pay for services that contribute to residents’ quality of life. The City is launching quarterly programs in 2018 to directly aid businesses along SH26 and encourage residents to shop Colleyville first. We are calling these Quarterly Promotions. The Q1P grant program provides qualifying businesses along the SH26 construction corridor up to $1,000 to spend on advertising. To qualify, a business must be located on SH26 within the project limits (John McCain Road to Brown Trail), generate sales tax, and utilize the phrase “Colleyville is open for business” in its ad. The program has been well received by the business community.
